Splurge Night!

I'm part of a "Splurge Group" (much to my husband's dismay).... we each put $20 in the pot each month, and one person wins the money to splurge with that month. Then that person hosts the next month's group, and shows off what they bought. It was finally my turn to win last month, so I'm hosting tonight. I sort of splurged on alot of things this month, so I went over my limit, but here's what I bought:
  • A beautiful painting for our dining room
  • Stupid new running shoes for my newest newest hobby
  • Two sessions of cooking classes ("Cook Like a Chef" and "A Tour of International Cuisines")

Tonight it's my turn to host, so I have made up some yummy appetizers, desserts, and beverages for my friends. Most of them I've already posted on here, but I thought I'd re-post them anyway.

Chocolate Tiramisu

Spinach Dip

Guacamole (not much of a recipe.... just 2 avocados, some Guacamole Dip Mix, and some lime juice)

Beergaritas

Mini Crab Cakes with Red Pepper Jelly

Pesto & Sundried Tomato Puff Pastry Pizza (Roll out a square of puff pastry, brush it with pesto, then top it with slices of sundried tomato and grated mozzarella. Bake for 15 minutes at 400 F.)

Everything turned out really well... we polished it all off! And then someone hid my Ricky Martin clock on me AGAIN (it happened last weekend at our housewarming.) Last week he was found "in the closet" (ha ha, very funny!) This week he was in the cupboard. When I hung him up again in the kitchen, he was a little crooked, so I adjusted it and one of my friends said, "Now he's straight." Ah, poor Ricky. I'm glad he's back up on my wall now, and since I don't have any more house parties planned for a while, he shouldn't go missing again any time soon.

You did good with your splurge money. That sounds fun. My family makes picks on the football games every week. We each put $2.oo in the pot every week. The one who did the best at the end of the season wins it all. I have cowboy fans in my family. I've been going the other way. Hum? Thanks Kathy.
