The Sunday Salad Game

My friend Manisha posts awesome pictures of her meals on Facebook, and tonight she posted a picture of a salad that looked (and sounded) amazing. She said she eats some variation of this salad every day for lunch, and that just sounds a whole lot healthier than the 3 perogies I ate today.

The beauty of salads is that you can basically put whatever you like in it, whether it's vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds, meat, dressings, etc. The problem is that sometimes it's overwhelming to think of new combinations, and yet we get bored with same old tossed or caesar salad.

Here's where the game begins - I want you to leave a comment underneath this post, and tell me one ingredient you would put in a salad. (Try not to make this a competition to see who can come up with the most digusting ingredient.) Take a look at the other ingredients people have posted, and try to add something that you think will make a delicious, healthy salad. Once we have 5-10 ingredients, I'll make it up and post the recipe and photo on my blog later in the week. Feel free to post more than once if you like. I'll try to do this every Sunday, and see how many different salads we can come up with for the week. If I don't get a chance to make the salads myself, I'll post whatever combinations we come up with and you can try them out yourself. (Send me a picture and I'll post it on here!)

Are you with me? Let's try to eat healthier this summer! Who's going to start by posting the first ingredient?

Great idea Kathy! I love all the creative ideas you have for letting your audience decide your meals.

Okay so salad ingredients...salads for me are all about contrast in texture. I love some good crunchy bits in my salads, so my ingredient will be: Pumpkin Seeds
